Overview

Yodaz Zoanthids (Zoas) feature eye-catching neon yellow fringes surrounding vibrant blue and green centers. They thrive in moderate lighting and flow, perfect for mid-level rockwork placement. With stable water conditions and occasional feedings, they are easy to care for and can develop into a stunning display.

Lighting Requirements

Zoanthids prefer moderate lighting (150-250 PAR) but can adapt to varying intensities. High light may enhance color vibrancy, but excessive light can cause bleaching. A PAR meter is recommended for mixed reef tanks to ensure optimal lighting conditions.

Ideal Tank Placement

Place Zoas in mid-to-lower regions or shaded spots of the tank to assess their light preference. They should be positioned in areas with gentle water flow to keep polyps open and free from debris.

Water Flow Requirements

Moderate, steady flow is preferred to prevent detritus buildup on polyps. If they remain closed, consider adjusting their placement to a location with slightly less intense light or flow.

Aggressiveness and Compatibility

Allow Zoanthids space to grow, as some varieties may encroach on neighboring corals quickly.

Feeding and Nutrition

Primarily photosynthetic, Zoas can sustain themselves on light but will benefit from occasional feedings with coral foods like Reef Chili and amino acids such as CoralAmino for improved growth and coloration.

Growth Rate and Pattern

Zoanthids grow relatively quickly. To manage their spread, consider placing them on a separate rock island.

Acclimation Process

Proper acclimation is crucial for corals. Refer to the Coral Acclimation Guide for detailed steps.
